The smallest portions for the highest price anywhere in Glasgow. The rice is served in a sugar bowl and the are six scraggy bits of chicken in a bowl of soup for the main course. When questioned the manager said that the price of rice had gone up and they used to give bigger portions but people complained that they were too big!!!

decor is nice though and service pleasant - it's just that you are ready for a meal after you have paid the bill.

No wonder there was hardly anyone in on a saturday night

Beware of the special deal advertised in the window. 2 Courses for £9.95 Monday to Thursday. Enter the establishment and order your meal of which you have chosen a starter and a main course. Time for the bill and you see you have been charged, with two glasses of wine a whacking 47.00. Question the staff as to why you should have been charged only £20.00 plus two glasses of wine and the reply is staggering.

YOU SHOULD HAVE ASKED FOR THAT MENU WHEN YOU CAME IN.

Querying the bill I was told that as I sat in the restaurant I could see the notices in the window. To us normal people we know that reading these notices from inside would have mean't being literate in reading text in mirror image.

i had read mixed reviews about this restaurant and i wanted to judge the place for myself, as i have drove by on numerous occasions and stuck out compared to most indian restaurants. it was a fri night about 7pm. on arrival we were greeted by a young waiter who seemed pleasant(and was). we were taken to a table and were even askd if the table situated to us was suitable, which was nice. were given menus and drinks ordered, which arrived within minutes even though the restaurant was fairly busy.

SO FAR SO GOOD...

waiter approached us asking if ready to order and we were (raring to go), we all ordered with the help of the waiter (same man as the one who seated and greeted us), he helped my partner decide what she wanted by gathering info on what she liked (very professional and friendly).

SO SO FAR GOOD...

out came starters and they were lovely expect the spicy onions which werent spicy! but happy.

SO SO SO FAR GOOD.all main meals were wonderful (they also dont use food colouring) which really bring out the taste.

Overall its certainly up there with the best. Nice friendly staff, good food,OUT THIS WORLD decor and good price, what else can you ask for? (free!)

Dont listen to people on reviews, you will never know what your missing unitl YOU try it.

The bonus also is it seems like a warm environment of staff all smiling and warming, (there not just waiters, they talk to you as though we'r friends, not shy).

Decor is something else, not dark and boring(like all indian restaurant are). pink and black walls and a black floor.

the best in south side at least and they do take aways and home deliveries.

9/10, go and give a try and thanks me (maybe even take me)

I went to shimla pinks with my family to celebrate the end of my uni finals. The waiters were friendly and were really helpful in helping us choose what to eat. I am not all that familiar with Indian food and the waiter recommended a thali for me - excellent choice. The food was exquisite and tasty. The thali meant i was able to sample more than one dish. My dad guzzled through a whole peshwari nan- this resembles the size of an elephant's foot! The nan were made just riight and had a real authentic taste about them. I enjoyed the biryani - although i felt it was a little bt spicy. My family thoroughly enjoyed the meal and the realxed atmosphere. I would defintily go again for a relaxed meal and contary to what i have head about it being a bit 'pricey' our bill was reasonable considering what my dad had ate!

I will defintiley go back and would go as far to say that it is by far the bext and most superior restaurant in the south side of glasgow.

After reading the mixed reviews of Shimla Stinks, my friends and I decided to give it a try. I'm really sorry that I did. As others have mentioned it is expensive for what you get and the quality is not great. The last time I went to shimla pinks, about 3 years ago the quality of the food far out stripped the local take-aways, but I would have preferred to get take out from BBq kings or Danny Singhs. It would have been cheaper and better.

Okay, so why did I think it sucked! While the decor was new and modern, the table was not clean and could have done with a proper wipe down. Then, to find out that the beers were overpriced, £2.50-£3 for a bottle of beer, did not impress.

Only ordered mains, three chicken dishes, I got the Achari. Nowhere near as hot as I would have expected the dish to be. The worse thing was that the chicken in the dish was smoked. I asked my companions, and their chicken was smoked too; despite ordering different types of curries. I thought this odd and enquired about it - apparently, they bake the chicken in a clay oven. Yeah right, and this given it an distinctly american bbq smokey flavour - that's all you could taste from the chicken and the dish. Regardless of whether it was achari, bengal fruity curry, or the red fort delicacy.

The spiced onions were really flavoursome with a really nice hint of corriander. And the peshwari nan was excellent, without any artificial flavours - though it could have done with some coconut.

Other than that, Shimla Pinks is not worth it - maybe if you went there when they have the 9.95 3 three course - but certainly not ala carte menu as the portions were small, chicken smokey, flavours poor, and the beer and desserts were overpriced.

If you want some good inidian food in Shawlands, go some where else.
