Recently went to Arta for my friends hen-do. Had heard all the chat about it being like a greek palace and thought it might be a bit tacky but it wasn't at all. Absolutely beautiful surroundings and to find staff looking after you in waistcoats and dresses in the city centre is absolutely incredible! You would think it would be a fortune and it wasnt at all! The drinks are quite expensive but the cocktails were lovely and brought to the table so you didnt mind paying at all, and the menu we had in the restaurant had so much choice and was delicious!

Excellent place, fantastic staff and service! We had a great time

the atmosphere seems good, the waitress was very polite

the tapas was a wee bit over cooked and some were burned a wee bit

there service was incredibly slow. i dont think the waiting staff was the cause as they seemed to be trying to help and apologising for the wait. we actually seen people walk out after waiting an hour just to get the first lot of food and as there were only eight people in the place waiting on food it makes you think about whats actually going on in the kitchen. we didnt mind the wait too much as we werent there for dinner, just drinks and tapas

but the price was ok. very poor quality of food and extended waiting

if your in a hurry i wouldnt recommend this place or if its not just a snack while drinking its not too good for the quality. there is much better value and quality around that area

overall not too impressed, dont think i will go back

£21.95 menu at Arta...do it! My boyfriend and I think its ace, third time this month. Great friendly atmosphere and helpful but non-intrusive staff!! Normally don't go for the dessert but the waiter had it sold...a 'healthy' creme brulee? Love it!

Wish I could have stayed for the salsa dancing after, looked brill!

Recently, I went to Arta for a night out with my friends. The place is stunning, so unique! I was not expecting the interior, as it is very large and grand, and from the outside it is a small door.

We enjoyed dinner in the restaurant, the service was amazing, and we never had to ask for ANYTHING! The tapas were delicious, and very reasonably priced.

After dinner, we went to the Main Bar for Cocktails, and sat in the Courtyard (I think this is what it was called). I felt like I was actually sitting under the stars somewhere in the middle of Spain. This space was absolutely breathtaking!

We then went to the nightclub for dancing. The Band was great, the bar staff were quick and efficient.

It was a great night out, the place is 10 out of 10, I can’t wait to go back!

I recently went along with my wife after work on one of the offers on the 5pm.co.uk website. Absolutely fantastic deal, £21.95 for bread & olives, 6 tapas and bottle of wine. Such genuine service, the girl who looked after us was fantastic and the food was delicious.

If you haven't been before - try it. Out of this world atmosphere, when we finished our meal there was Salsa starting downstairs which we just had to stay to enjoy.

What was thought to be a quick meal turned out to be a fantastic night. We will definitely be going back!

I recently held our work Christmas do at Arta and it was incredible! I have organised the works Christmas night out for a number of years and choosing Arta for this year was one of the best decisions yet, this has got to have been the best! I have been in drinking a couple of times and love how you feel like your on holiday in its spanish themed surroundings, but as for the restaurant...an absolute gem! Right from my first query, to paying our deposit and choosing our menu, Annie from the events office looked after everything. I hardly had to do a thing! The night itself was fantastic, met at the door and taken to our table, our coats looked after, and drinks over in seconds, we couldn't have asked for more. I had completely forgotten about one of my guests being vegetarian and Fraser the restaurant manager fixed me up with a meal that could suit her in seconds, she needn't even know she was an afterthought! Overall the service was out of this world, I was so impressed and still receive comments from my colleagues at how wonderful an evening it was. We had reserved some space in the nightclub and Fraser escorted us downstairs personally and even checked back on us later! I don't normally write reviews but I feel I completely owe it to the guys at Arta for a fantastic night! If there was one negative comment, the nightclub can get pretty uncomfortably hot...perhaps some better air con would help keep people there longer!

Definitely one of the best places I've been. The venue is fantastic, and the staff are an absolute treasure. We went for a meal the other night and were treated like royalty. The food is amazing and very reasonably priced! I can't wait to go back...

Me and my partner were looking for a wedding venue with a difference and decided to go for arta due to the beautiful decor. We went for a viewing and were quite pleased.

The girl who showed us around (Jill) promised us confirmation e-mails about what we had discussed by the end of the week that was at the beginning of February 2009. We also emailed them menus prior to going there and they had gotten a price for them but were only confirmed verbally.

Now considering the initial contact was done in January 2009 it would seem a bit of a shock when we are still waiting after several calls to them to request the conformations.

we have been promised confirmation by the next day around 6 times and promised call backs which never happened and when we did call to query why they weren’t sending the confirmation they didn’t want to listen and were adamant we paid the non refundable booking fee of £500, which of course we refused to pay without first receiving confirmation as they promised.

We have spoken to three different managers (Jill, heather and a man we didn’t get his name), We eventually decided if arta can’t do a simple thing like send an e-mail at the planning stage to confirm what we had discussed. Then were not too sure how competent that they will be to actually deliver anything that we had asked for on the day.

We would not recommend planning a wedding or any kind of party here as the management are obviously not capable of doing a simple task like confirming the details that they are supposed to do for a living. (It is there job after all)

We are of course taking our business else were and would recommend other people who are thinking of using this venue for their celebration to do the same.

We had read previous forum posts saying bad things about arta and thought maybe the people just expected too much. But after the experience that we have had it would appear that every one of the posts could be true.

So my recommendation is play safe and go somewhere else as these people are paid to do this. It’s their job and it’s not a favour to you.

Would NOT recommend for a private function!!!!!

We were at Arta for Birthday Party-Murder mystery night. The room was freezing, so cold you could see you breath!!! The food was average and that was the main course only, the starter of lentil and carrot bisque was so bland, I would have been more satisfied eating a carrot stick and no bread roll! The dessert sounded amazing but was a cheap ice cream effort!

Next door was a bigger party - booze and buffet with LOUD music, so loud that we couldnt even hear anything the murder mystery actors were saying! The whole thing was a disaster, after one of the birthday girls complained, sparkling wine was offered as a goodwill......no apology from the management to our table......one of the actors ended up apologising at the end of the night, which really was not their place to do so! The sparkling wine was freezing so didnt help with the coldness, people were actually sitting in theirjackets through the whole meal! Plus it didnt help that 4 people out of the 12 werent drinking....the management obviously wanting to get people drunk in a shody attempt to warm up!

ALL AT £30 A HEAD...........waste of money and time!
