My lunch in Cafe Rogano lasted from 1pm till 9pm. It was utterly wonderful. The Manager (Chris) made us feel very welcome and didn't flinch at any of our requests. The food was perfect and the service attentive. Our fish of the day was a joy, the atmosphere was buzzing and the staff were all smiling, a perfect combination. Glasgow's best restaurant. Cafe Rogano.

I've never had a meal quite like it - the oysters for my starter were perfect, 100% beautiful, and as for the main course; I had grilled turbot with a blackpudding and poato cake and muhroom and tarragon jus - so good I had tears in my eyes. If it was possible to give 11 out of 10, I would.

CAFE ROGANO is a hidden jem. Hidden under the the main restaurant and bar is this little find. A delight of a place to go. Great service, highly attentive. A must for the romantics.

Dined in Cafe Rogano yesterday. That really is the place to go. Food was a delight, my monkfish was a treat. The service was fast and attentive. The cozy relaxed atmosphere made this a fabulous night out and i will certainly go back and I certainly recommend it.

You would be forgiven for thinking when stepping into the Rogano that you had accidentally walked onto the set of “Titanic”, but this ship is far from sinking, as the grandfather of Glaswegian dining, it still manages to draw in those who love to dine. With 1920’s décor inspired by the Queen Mary Ocean liner, you are taken back to a by-gone era with crystal chandeliers, antique ocean murals and wood paneling. Adding to the feel, uniformed waiters with white aprons, invite you to sit in one of the intimate booths with twinkling silver cutlery. The menu always accents seafood, starters such as marrbury smoked salmon, chilled oysters and seared scallops which are cooked to perfection, plump and sweet, served with a spring onion and ginger sauce which does its job well, by complimenting without overpowering the fish. Main courses follow the same patterns with sea bass, halibut, lemon sole and langoustines. Lobster thermidor is a staple on this menu, succulent and sweet though tiny in portion, is served with a rich cheese sauce, but at £35 I would doubt many would see the value. Meat lovers should not worry as accomplished dishes such as roast guinea fowl, braised rabbit and fillet of beef will please even the most discerning meat eater. A separate vegetarian menu also exists for those who wish it. Deserts could bring vanilla pannacotta, iced citrus parfait or bakewell tart ice cream. Though the crème brulee with Viennese biscuits finishes the meal in classic style, the custard is smooth and you get the proper balance of crunch and cream with each bite. Downstairs at the Rogano is their Café, a brassiere with more modern and moderately priced food, but if you want to experience the glamour alone, stay in the bar and indulge in a champagne cocktail with a dozen oysters. Regardless of which you choose, Rogano offers a memorable evening out.

Very dissapointed.

Went here in the knowledge it wasnt going to be cheap but was hoping the food would more than make it up for it.

Decor is beautiful (if old...but thats the charm). Service went from very good (one waiter) to very poor (waitresses).

Starters - Fresh Oysters good quality but not opened well as bits of shell in the oyster itself. Had to ask for accompanying tobasco!.

Main Course - Seared salmon in bed of noodles - more like noodles and water. The most bland and tasteless fish dish i have ever had. Wife had Monkfish that could have been any white fish! Accompanying rocket and parmesan salad limp and swimming in oil.

Complained and didnt have to pay for main course but VERY VERY dissapointed.

Had dinner downstairs in the Rogano Cafe last night. Staff very pleasant, surroundings luxuriously beautiful. Food - bit of a disappointment. Monkfish wrapped in bacon for main course - bacon excessively fatty & not at all crispy. Plate swimming in oil.

Venison burger quite tasteless and presented in what looked like a supermarket bun...

Could do better.
