Modern India

We were in Glasgow for a weekend and love Indian Food and tried Modern India as it had a good write up on the net, however we were both dissapointed with the service and the food, I booked a table, probably no need at this time of year,we were met at the door and I said I had book and was not asked my name just "never mind about that" was my reply, we were shown to a table that was not properly cleabned witrh a dirty napkin lying under it.We ordered drinks and my cobra beer must have come out of the oven,I really do expect a beer to be cold.We asked for 2 pappadums and the usual dips, at £3, I was shocked as the yogurt and mango dips were watered down, so dissapointing. My starter was ok it was a

mince dosa, actually quite tasty, but the 2 mains, one a chicken balti and one a chicken achari, the achari was ok , but the balti was tasteless, and the mushroom rice was the worst I've ever tasted totally bland.

I was looking fotward to a great dining experience but felt let down, maybe management need to ensure that any high standards they demand are maintained at all times, the staff who served us with the exception of one were not customer friendly. This review is of course only my opinion from our visit saturday 7 Jan 2006, but we wont be going back.
