i have been dining in bombay blues over the last 8 years and never fail to leave un-satisfied with food, value and great service from the staff and tonight i have spoke to the owner and he always has a welcoming greeting for his customers same goes for the staff the restaurant is so well kept clean and immatulate and once was told by the manager that he put an advert in local press for an open invitation for the asylum seekers to come for a free meal and none took up his generous offer which very few restaurants do so with thanks to owner and staff both my friend who has just had his first visit to it tonight and he thoroughly enjoyed it too and will be back cheers to manager and staff

I usually trust reviews on these websites but after I had a meal at BB last week (ordering from the menu, not the buffet), I am left wondering about some of the reviews here.

Maybe we just got lucky.

Based on my one experience: Bombay Blues is an extremely good quick, (relatively) cheap curry. The service was ultra-friendly and the food was very tasty, very fresh, very hot (if you ask!) and very much not the typical overly-sauced tasteless curry that I expected from a (relatively) cheap buffet-based restaurant.

Will return, and thanks to the staff.

My friends and i decided to celebrate my birthday at the restaurant. However, we were very dissappointed with the service we received. There were two waitresses too busy conversng with each other that they didnt even notice we were trying to get their attention. When we did finally attract their attention they were very rude and unwilling to help with our query. I felt insulted with the attitude they had towards me. To be treated this way on a special day out i felt humilated and we left quickly after our meal. My friends and family will certainly not be returning. I shall make a note of passing the word on as i do not want anyone else to be treated this way. By the way, the food was certainly good which we enjoyed but the two girls ruined our night out.

I visited Bombay Blues last night with a friend, it was fairly busy however we got a table quickly. I opted for the buffet and my friend a la carte menu. I chose my starters and my friend waited for his, there was a delay to his starter, also to his main course, as no side plates are provided I asked my friend to place a piece of nan bread on his plate as oppossed to the table. Within seconds the waiter was over accussing my friend of taking bread from the buffet and that he would be charged accordingly! His manner was appalling, no customer service skills at all, I asked for the manager, he had a similar attitiude and told us if we dont like it to leave! I will NEVER return or recommend this restaurant after being accussed of theft for a piece of nan bread

I was taken to this place by my boyfriend for the first time in September 2007. It is located on the same street as buffalo Joes and to be honest i had never given it a second glance. However when we went there i was suprised at the friendlyness of the waiters and the chef who came out to chat to us. That time we ordered of the pre theatre menu, which was £7.95 each and gave us 2 courses. The chicken pakora i had and the chazney curry were full of flavour and spice. I was so impressed that i went back to try the buffet, expecting the quality to go down as it was all you can eat, i was proven wrong. The choice of vegetable, chicken, lamb and beef curries was suprising and they were constantly re-filled. There was also a great choice of starters with different pakoras, salads, prawns and scewered chicken on hot coals. The only thing with little choice was the desserts as there was only two available. If you ask then you can have ice cream but this is not advertised clearly, all in all with the buffet only being £9.95 each its great value for money, with a friendly service and tasty indian food.

We went in here recently (3/07), atracted by the Ad on a free map given away in many local hotels, and because it is close to central station. We were quickly seated (although right by the service area and buffet when there were many other tables free) and we asked for the buffet which is advertised very prominently. We had to ask several times, the waiter kept trying to get us to chose from the a la carte menu. The food in the buffet was disappointing. Of the main courses, only one curry had any meat in it, the rest were just gravy. We had to ask for each one to be re-filled once at a time. There was no choice of meat other than chicken when were were there, and this was 9pm, not late. The papadoms were all broken up and the nan bread torn up. Maybe this their style but I didnt want papdoms in very small pieces. The curries were mostly extemelly hot. The waiter refilled our wine glasses from the bottle which annoys me as it is a trick to get you to order more. We had great difficulty attracting a waiter to pay the bill. The bill was £20 for the food and £14 for a bottle of house wine. Good value but overall we were disappointed with the range of food. If you are from outside town and looking for somewhere near central station this is OK. Its clean and functional and you get what you pay for.
