Mother India

I love this place! After 4 years of University in Glasgow (living across the street from Mother India) I miss it desperately living in London. The food is great - I assume people that think it isn't have no taste buds at all. A DELIGHT!

I went to this restaurant with my wife and mother in law in late December for the first time. Living in West London, I would say I have good experience of eating good quality and relatively cheap Indian food.
We had a shared starter (haddock with spiced lentils) and three chicken based mains that varied from the mild (Chicken Sag) through to Chilli Garlic Chicken. I thought that the food was excellent. Whilst the prices are expensive for Indian food (£7 for a starter and £11 to £15 for a main) the flavours are great and somewhat different to the standard Indian restaurant. It's also worth pointing out that we took a doggy bag because the portions were very large.
Finally, in light of other reviews, I must say that the peshwari naan I had was one of the best I've tasted. All in all, a place I'd definitely visit again.

I'm really surprised that this restaurant has disappointed anyone. The worst meal I've had there (in around a dozen visits) was very good indeed. The majority of the time the food's been outstanding.
As far as I'm concerned it''s, by far, the best Indian restaurant in the west of Scotland. You can tell that the food is freshly prepared for each customer. Their Cafe opposite the Kelvingrove Museum is also worth a visit for Indian tapas.

Had a really bad experience here on New Year’s Eve 2007. The table was cramped and up against a radiator causing us to get blasted with hot air, and because it was across a step it was not flat. The food in general was greasy. When we complained that a nan was not peshwari but plain it was brought back with a few almonds sprinkled on. The sag paneer had obviously been reheated in a microwave as had the rice. I eat Indian/Bangladesh food every week and unfortunately this was the worst food I have experienced really the flavours did not work for me.
The reality was the staff wanted to get the customers out of the restaurant so that they could celebrate the new year and possibly had took short cuts to get a fast turn around, fair enough, but if you are not going to give the service why open. There were good bits - I really liked getting a text to confirm my reservation and I liked that I could bring my own wine, the pompadoms were excellent. The decoration of the restaurant was to a good standard.

Absolutely the worst Indian meal I have had in 25 years of eating Indian food. The meal was rushed, not cooked properly, bland and our complaints were dismissed out of hand. Glasgow has some great curry houses, and this place ranks as the lowest of the low. There are plenty of other places to eat so go and spend your hard earned money somewhere else.

This place is fantastic! The food tastes home-cooked and fresh and all natural colouring....no strange pinks or red that are not found in nature.
I had lovely fresh pakora followed by a slow cooked lamb dish with spinach and everything was divine.
The only thing better than the food were the waiters. They were extremely friendly and they entertained us with their great patter all night.
It wasn't really cheap but it's BYO so wasn't too bad all in.
Well worth a visit
