Got to be the best Italian restaurant in Glasgow, a hidden gem at the bottom of Hope Street.. It's easy to walk past it as the entrance is a small doorway with the restaurant downstairs. Great food well priced and courteous staff. Have never had a bad meal there and I'm working my way through the menu !

Tried La Lanterna after reading so many good reviews, all I can say is that I most certainly was not disappointed, We had grilled scallops & tiger prawns risotto and followed by the tiramisu. The tiramisu has been made by the mothers` owner for the last 40 years and is said to be the original recipe dating back to 1970 unbeatable!!. Thanks for a great night.

Went to La Lanterna last week for Valentines Night. My Husband and I had a wonderful meal and very attentative service provided by the experienced waiting staff.

The place was full and had a lovely romantic atmosphere. We both had the house speciality grilled king prawns (6) on crusty garlic bread with sweet chilli & lemon dressing, to follow I had the fillet of halibut grilled on garlic spinach with rosemary & dill cream potatoes, my husband had short pasta with fillet steak & Italian sausage just delicious, all washed down with a lovely bottle of Barbera.

I've just visited La Lanterna for the first time having heard so many good things about it and I must say it exceded all expectations.

The standard of food was simply superb from start to finish. I'm not a great lover of seafood but my girlfriend assures me that her starter of king prawns fried in oatmeal were as good as she's ever had. My own starter of rigatoni with filet steak and italian sausage was equally brilliant. The main courses maintained the excellent standard. My tournados rossini was simply oustanding, rich and intensely flavoured.

The atmosphere was warm and relaxed, helped by friendly and attentive staff.

Given the excellent quality of food and generous portions it was great also great value for money.

I really couldn't recommend La Lanterna highly enough and will no doubt go back time and time again.

Recently had a meal in this restaurant after reading many reviews, I can only say that it is by far the most authentic Italian I have visited in the city.

No Pizza or Fast Food here, just traditional home cooked Italian food served by Italian staff always helpful to guide you around the detailed menu.

An extensive wine list as well is also on offer so you can pick from the house wine to a barolo of amarone for that special occasion.

Dont for get to try Glasgow`s finest & oldest Tiramisu, a true delight made by the Bosses Mamma, for the last 40 years,

Got to be the best pasta place in Glasgow !

Always freshly made and prepared.

I just can't praise this little place enough.

Hard to find behind Central Station but if you do you will NOT be dissapointed !

My wife and I stumbled upon this restaurant on a wet night. It was a pleasure to find stairs leading down to the charmingly decorated dining room in the basement. The welcome was friendly, the service efficient, the food excellent and the whole experience a pleasure and particularly good value. After a disappointing visit to an Italian restaurant in London, we were delighted to find the usual recipe for such places existing here - plenty of pasta-dish variety, the wielding of a large pepper-mill and cheerful waiter assistance.
