India Quay

Had a fantastic meal at the India Quay. Service is welcoming, friendly and efficient. Food excellent and served promptly. Very surprised at the price of the menu which I expected to be more expensive given the location. Had a wonderful experience there in lovely surroundings. I would definitely return and highly recommend this restaurant.

What a great restaurant. Dined with family before show at the nearby SECC and we all agreed that this is our new favourite restaurant in Glasgow.

I sent this by post as their website email failed to work after several attempts and my system returned it as failed.
I visited the restaurant on Sat 15th Nov. When it came to order the waitress was Not at all helpful, in that , she expected me to know various things about the menu, instead of explaining them. I asked her what the choice of sauces were for my Chicken Byriani. She said " its those there " pointing out the MAIN courses, she was not impressed when i said that i didn’t understand and that she was referring to the mains, i didn’t see anywhere there, which stated anything about sauces.
In a LOT of Indian restaurants around the country, i have had a specific Byriani sauce which comes with that dish. In the end to avoid further embarrassment to my dinner partner, i decided to have a basic curry sauce, which she said would be Medium.
On arrival, everything looked fine, although the sauce was mild and Not medium.
When the same waitress came to clear up the main plates she put a desert menu down, hastily and asked me , if i wanted some coffee, then left in a second, without giving me time to even utter the words, "we'd like a desert please". She NEVER came back.! I had to ask TWO other people, the last of which was actually helpful. even though BOTH of the deserts we wanted were actually OFF the menu, so we had to re –order.
When it came to asking for the Bill, i had asked two separate persons , who failed to appear with the bill, i eventually had to GO to the desk near the door, in person, which managed to succeed in my bill arriving.
All in all , a LESS than nice experience at what appears on the outside as a very nice place to eat. I had read, good and bad reviews before i went last night, but always reserve judgement until i have actually been inside to eat. With restaurants having to attract customers in this time of higher prices, I don’t consider that the £40.75 bill, for that standard of service, would make me want to go back again.
MOST of the staff seemed far too busy to be able to control the various tables they were looking after.
After various other letters with NO reply, I made a visit in person on 6th FEB 09 and spoke to the manager, who remembered me and exactly what I had to eat. He promised to write to me but never has. NOT somewhere I will ever go back to.

When is comes to Indian cuisine, i consider myself a bit of a snob. Been in most Indian restaurants in Glasgow. When it comes to the India Quay I can not praise it enough, Friendly staff, excellent choice of food and it wont break the bank either. Just found my new favorite.

What a fantastic restaurant. We ate there on Saturday 8 March to celebrate a 70th birthday and our ages ranged from 8yrs to 73+; one of the party was confined to a wheelchair. I cannot speak too highly of the care and attention given to us by the restaurant staff who had taken great care to seat us at a table that was easy to access with the wheelchair and was equally accessible to the disabled toilet. All of this care and attention was given most discretely so that we didn't feel that special arrangements had been made to accommodate us. The food was sensational and extremely good value and the service superb. Only only part of our group lives in Glasgow, the rest of us having travelled from England and Ireland for the celebrations, so we will not be frequent visitors to India Quay but you can be sure if we are ever in Glasgow again it will be on the top of our list of places to eat. Thanks to all for making it such a special evening.

Just been to India Quay for the third time. What can we say!! They are brilliant. Anything you want just ask. Nothing is too much bother. The chef adapts the menu to suit any palate. Service is great particularly Vanida. Great view of the bridge at night. Definitely recommend. We will be back next time we are in Glasgow.

Hi, dined here on sat the 22nd. We concur with the previous posts, food superb and staff very nice. Excellent advice and combinations recommended for the less adventurous. Ifs its good enough for Robbie C, then its good enough for me. On the negative side the restaurant was very busy so expect a reasonable wait between courses. You will quickly forget about the waiting time after your food arrives, truly marvellous food. Well-done India Quay. Will definitely be back
