Windows Restaurant

I visited the Windows restaurant lask week and had the most enjoyable time! It really is a lovely place to have a meal, and the staff were extremely helpful and polite. I live in Edinburgh and only travel to Glasgow around three of four times a year, but I'd definitely return to Windows again during my next stay there!
I'd also recommed the restaurant to readers of this website. Top class venue!

Having read the review I tought that i would give this place a go, oh dear ! This is simply a hotel restaurant with pretensions of being something else. Lighting is poor, staff freindly but they spent most of the time hanging round the till. We had to quite literally shout to get attention. Food was expensive and served at a pace that left everyone out of breath. The food that was served was unbelievably awful and of course when asked we all said yes it was fine in good old british style ! I really do not think the staff would really care anyway. We arrived at 8:20 and were being asked if we wanted a dessert menu at 9:15 !! The staff then started setting up for breakfast, can you imagine this happening at Rogano? Meanwhile the 2 other couples remaining in the restaurant (9pm on a busy saturday night) kept disappearing on to the balcony for a cigarette leaving the rest of us to freeze from the gails blowing through the door. WE could not wait to leave and having never written a review before felt compelled to put this down as a warning to anyone thinking of going.

I wasn't impressed by my visit to Windows for a friend's wedding anniversary. Once we were seated we waited at least 10 minutes until someone finally gave us menus to look at, the choice was good and I decided on Sea bass starter and roast lamb for a main. A small basket of bread was provided while we waited. The starters were TINY, the piece of fish i had was about 3x3" and was resting on a meagre heap of shredded cabbage with some green pesto-like sauce smeared around the plate. Don't get me wrong it was cooked perfectly but there just wasn't enough there to justify the price. I thought I would be safe with the lamb but again it was just a small portion with some champ mashed potato and some more cabbage. They do offer roast vegetables as a side so maybe I should have ordered that too but it would have brought the price up to £20 for the main alone.
The view was hardly 'panoramic', for a start they had the blinds down and after we opened them saw a sliver of the night skyline mostly obscured by the building in front. Be wary of the cheese platter to share, it's the same size as the single one however they charge you more for it.

I love WINDOWS - this is where my now husband took me on my first date, it was stunning. We have been several times since, most recently of which celebrated my parents Ruby Anniversary - every time the staff are friendly, the food is of such a high quality, I would throughly recommend it.......

Friends and I have dined at Windows on several occasions. The staff are friendly, attentive snd the ambience is warm and relaxing, the decor lovely. The menues offer a mouthwatering choice of dishes, quality ingredients, all cooked to perfection. You get lost in the atmosphere of the location as it's special looking out over the city below and the skyline is simply Glasgow!
